Anika noni rose is an American actor and singer. She's best known for portraying Tiana Disney's her first African American character in The Princess and the Frog. Disney Legends featured her one of the 2011 Disney Legends. Rose appeared as Lorrell Robertson in Dreamgirls and was awarded an Academy Award. Anika Noni Rose (born on September 6, 1973) is an American actress and a singing. Most famously, she is known for playing Tiana Disney's first African-American princess as seen in The Princess and the Frog (2009). The film was recognized as a Disney Legend in 2011. Her name was also honoured for her performance on the screen in Dreamgirls (2006), which earned the Academy Award for Best Picture. In the Starz show Power she played the role of LaVerne Jukebox Ganner. Her performances in the theatre are also well-known, including her roles in the role of Emmie Thbodeaux in The Broadway musical Caroline or Change (2004) which won her an award for the Tony Award Best Featured actress in a Musical. Her nomination was to win the Tony Award Best Featured actor in a play for the Broadway revival A Raisin in the Sun.
